Tour Recap: Giro Next Gen

More than 1000 kilometres of racing over 8 long days and loads of experience for our ARA I Skip Capital men!

It came with a lot of lessons, some bad luck and injuries for the men’s first Giro Next Gen experience to finish off a big European racing block.

“The Baby Giro is a massive event. We’ve never raced anything like it before. Just finishing was an achievement, given the highs and lows. We didn’t achieve our goal of getting into the decisive breaks or taking a stage win, but I still think we can be proud of our achievements nonetheless.” Declan Trezise

Things kicked off with the 9.4km prologue with Hamish claiming #10 place.

Just 1 second off the Young Riders Jersey, Hamish Mckenzie had an impressive start to the Giro Next Gen in super hot conditions.

The next few days were hot and hectic with a great effort by the team for the 3rd stage, setting Blake up for the final sprint. They didn’t quite get there in the end but still a very respectable 11th place by the teams fast man!

Stage 4 was an unforgettable one with a finish up one of the most iconic climbs in world cycling, the Passo della Stelvio.

The final stages saw our team reduced to just two survivors, Declan Trezise and Will Eaves.

The boys rode hard navigating their way into early breaks and final bunch sprints.

Declan finished a big 8 days with a Top 20 on Stage 8.
